Find Resolve in These New Year Resolutions
History Lesson: Some 4,000 years ago, the ancient Babylonians are said to have been the first people to make New Year’s resolutions. But hey, they were also the first to hold blow out celebrations in honor of the new year as well (which incidentally, was in mid-March, when the crops were planted).
Regardless of what resolution you commit to, the goal is to improve life in the coming year. Here are a few resolutions starters we’re on board with:
Learn to be happier: Even if your life seems to be on the right track – you’re in shape, good relationships and make a good living – you can still be unhappy. It may take time and patience to learn how to find joy in the little things in life and not letting problems bring you down. Think positively before the negativity moves in.
Be more responsible: Mom, is that you? You know a big part of growing up is the ability to think before making a decision. Take responsibility for your actions (or lack of actions) and avoid blaming everyone else is a step forward – plus mom would be so proud.
Eat More Protein: Ok, it looks like we just threw that one in because Southern Recipe Small Batch Pork Rinds are high in protein, but really, protein is an important building block of bones, muscles, cartilage, skin and blood. And high-protein diets can bring a quick drop in weight because of the elimination of carbohydrates.
Volunteer and give more to charity: To volunteer your time to helping those in need is a reward in itself, but no one said you couldn’t meet new people and boost your resume in the process.
Become more polite: Let’s start with the easy ones – say please and thank you – then move on to not trolling social media on your soapbox. Share a Small Batch rind, share a ride or share your joy. Good manners have always been an important part of the civilized world. And the world is getting smaller every day.
